William Gallas could have joined Juventus instead of Tottenham Hotspur last summer
William Gallas’ agent has revealed that the veteran French defender was set to join Juventus last summer but eventually decided to sign a contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Arsenal centre-back was linked with a move to Turin in the summer of 2010 but the 33-year-old chose to remain in London, opting to play for the Gunners’ rivals Tottenham.
Gallas’ agent Etienne Mendy has now admitted his client did have the chance to play for the former Italian and European champions but personal problems forced him to remain in England.
“It’s true, last year before joining Tottenham he was going to sign for Juventus,” he told Tuttomercatoweb. “Then because of personal problems the deal fell through.
"I think that right now his arrival in Italy would be a little complicated, as there’s very little chance it could happen.
“He should stay with Tottenham, as he extended his contract with Spurs for two years and will probably end his career at White Hart Lane.”
Gallas’ deal with Spurs runs until the summer of 2013. He has featured in 22 Premier League matches so far this season and also played in eight Champions League games.
